Peter Wallbank, Co-Founder and Group Technical Director of August Race Group, was invited to speak alongside ICOMIA Technical Director Patrick Hemp at METSTRADE, addressing regulatory compliance and MARPOL Annex V awareness within the recreational marine industry.

Co-Founder of August Race Peter Wallbank has shared that he has been appointed as a member of the ICOMIA (International Council of Marine Industry Associations) Sustainability Committee.With over 25 years of experience in the chemical industry — including the last 12 dedicated to the marine sector — Peter has developed a deep commitment to advancing sustainability and navigating the complex regulatory landscape that surrounds it.Peter said "Joining this global forum is a real privilege and I look forward to gaining a wider understanding of sustainability within our industry, contributing to meaningful progress and helping to promote fact based transparency"

MARPOL Annex V has been in force for decades and applies globally. While it is often associated with commercial shipping, its scope extends beyond large vessels and into leisure craft, marinas, charter fleets, boatyards, and onboard operations. In practice, this means that many of the products routinely used for cleaning, maintenance, and day-to-day vessel care fall within its remit.
