THE TRANQUILLITY OF SANDWICH MARINA IN KENT HIDES AN AMAZING PIECE OF HISTORY
You could be forgiven for assuming that Sandwich Marina in North East Kent is simply another of the UK's many idyllic waterside locations.
Yes they are a family run business with all the usual facilities including floating/ dry moorings, craneage and workshops, showers and toilets etc but there is one rather unique difference. The director of Sandwich Marina (Barry Field) maintains P22.
Now a unique tourist attraction and located in the centre of Sandwich, this incredible piece of history is especially relevant now as P22 took part in the 150 million pound blockbuster movie “Dunkirk” released in 2017
Open as a working Museum, the vessel has Charitable Trust status and a passenger certificate for cruises for up to 12 passengers on the historic river Stour down to the mouth of the Estuary at Pegwell Bay
Barry has big plans for the future including
To: become a centre for War Veterans to meet up with their peers to recollect their life stories and if they wish, to record them for future visitors information. We would “at no charge” take them into the Bay on P22 with their friends and families to enjoy past recollections hopefully along with tea and cake!

To: join with visually authentic US Navy re-enactment groups, and help bring P22 alive for veterans and tourists.
